The late 90s saw Rolls-Royce launch the Silver Seraph, a gentle evolution of the long-running Silver Spirit -slightly shorter and wider, a little heavier, and the grille a little more modest. There were some big changes though, notably a bodyshell claimed to be 65% more rigid, adaptive ride control, and a 5.4-litre BMW V12. That switch from the traditional 'six and three quarter' pushrod V8 caused some bristling among traditionalists, but was soon to become a minor detail in the evolution of Rolls-Royce models.
